It is refreshing to walk into a venue with smiles on the staff’s faces to begin the evening. The first step in the right direction, alongside specialty cocktails, obviously. Another feather in Innovative Dining Group’s cap, the newly opened BOA Steakhouse’s extensive menu has something delectable for everyone. Helmed by chef James Flowers, this esteemed spot offers elevated favorites with a modern twist. The Goat Cheese Baklava is something I constantly crave after tasting its contrasting flavors of pistachios, black truffles and frisee. If surf is more your speed, I recommend the Hokkaido scallops with celery root, truffle and honey. They are cooked to perfection—but then again, everything is—so order anything your heart desires and look for chef Flowers’ exclusive Austin-only menu items. But, if you leave without trying the corn crème brulée and the sticky pudding, then I fear you must go back.

Conveniently located in the center of the city on West 6th and Lavaca, the steakhouse’s ambiance is truly unmatched. The bar serves sophisticated cocktails alongside an extensive selection of wine and beer, all within an enchanting setting perfect for any occasion—from date nights and celebrations to business meetings and special events. BOA’s Happy Hour, held Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., is an ideal place for a post-work drink. I recommend the Fashion Forward: a smooth Toki Japanese whisky paired with grilled orange and sharp Angostura bitters for a unique and delightful experience.
Buckle up and be sure to save room for the entrees when you make your way to BOA. It’s hard not to fill up as you make your way down the delectable menu. My advice? Let chef Flowers and his incredible team lead you through the evening. 300 West 6th St., boasteak.com
