How did Jones Road come about?

When I left my namesake brand in late 2016, I started working on several projects, including a boutique hotel in New Jersey and a collection of wellness supplements. Then MasterClass called me to do a makeup class, and it brought me back to being a makeup artist again, which is my true passion. Jones Road is a lifetime of beauty knowledge distilled into a collection of clean, simple-to-use products designed for all skin tones and skin types.

Why did you choose Austin for your first Texas store location?

Austin is a vibrant and active community with a downtown, cool vibe that aligns perfectly with the Jones Road aesthetic. As soon as we saw this location (1714-B South Congress Ave.), we knew it was exactly where we wanted to be. It is the largest store we’ve opened to date, offering the full assortment of Jones Road products and merch. Plus, the space is large enough to host private events.

Is natural beauty trending again?

I have never considered “natural beauty” a trend since it’s what I’ve been doing for nearly 40 years as a makeup artist. I believe that most of us look better with less makeup on. We don’t have to cover our freckles or contour our noses: I think our imperfections make us uniquely beautiful.
