If you’ve ever experienced the world-class powder of Telluride Ski Resort, you’ve already been to Mountain Village. The town serves as the base for the resort, complete with restaurants, fire pits and the best accommodations in the area. Visitors can sit back and relax with the family in elegant, 4- and 5-star hotels throughout the town, including several with ski-in, ski-out access. Powder days don’t get any easier than walking out of your hotel, picking up your skis or snowboard from the ski valet, and walking a few short steps to the slopes.
You’ll also find après is right outside your door with no shortage of local restaurants, taprooms, and more throughout the village. If skiing isn’t your thing (or you just want to experience another mountain adventure), there are plenty of other ways to explore the area. Grab a fat tire bike or Nordic skis and follow the groomed trails, or you could strap on some snowshoes to float across the mountain’s fresh, unspoiled powder. Every option gives you access to vistas you’ve never seen outside of a postcard.
Before or after your powder-filled adventure, Mountain Village's European-inspired plazas can fulfill your sense of wonder. Go on a shopping spree for everything from winter clothes to custom cowboy boots. Skate across the ice rink in Reflection Plaza. Try a local beer or wine. And taste new flavors all around town, from tacos and BBQ to seafood and Italian. While you’re savoring every bite, check out one of Mountain Village’s 25 dining cabins. These refurbished gondola cabins were painted by local artists and dotted throughout the base village to give patrons a truly one-of-a-kind and immersive dining/art experience.
Now, we saved the best attraction for last. Mountain Village is famous for its breathtaking sunsets thanks to the surrounding 13- and 14,000-foot, awe-inspiring peaks. When you notice dusk approaching, grab a drink, sit by a fire pit, soak in the sunset, and dream about what you might do tomorrow.
Getting to Mountain Village is easy, with nonstop flights from Austin (AUS) to Telluride/Montrose (MTJ).
