People, Art,
A man with his own signature art style, Richie Deegan came to Austin in 1999 and never looked back. His paintings have been described as having emotional resonance and spiritual depth. Through his works, Deegan aims to tap into the shared human experience to evoke profound emotions. Followers have seen his work featured online at the prestigious Van Gogh Museum, in collections in Germany, Canada, East Africa, Hungary, and several galleries throughout Texas. Some of his clientele include Parker McCollum and well-known film industry executives, among other high-profile individuals. “I’m excited to have recently shown several pieces of my art at the wrap party for the cast and crew of the Ted Lasso series out in Los Angeles,” Deegan shared with us. Apparently, Ted Lasso himself, AKA Jason Sudeikis, wanted to buy one off the wall of the host’s home, but she refused. Sorry, Ted.

Deegan stated that he often “starts by dripping oil paint onto the canvas, letting it flow and pool in an uncontrolled yet intentional manner. The paint moves freely, creating spontaneous patterns and vibrant textures.” Then he goes in with his hands, literally. “This hands-on approach allows me to incorporate my personal touch into the work.” (no pun intended). The organic feel is what Deegan describes as mainly using oil and acrylic paint on larger canvases to accomplish his masterpieces. I asked if Deegan could paint for anyone in the world, who would it be? His response was deemed appropriate as a retired rockstar… “I’ve been a Pearl Jam fan since high school, having seen the band 20+ times live, so if Eddie Vedder ever asked me to paint something for him, I think I would have to grab some oxygen.” “Just Breathe,” Deegan. richiedeegan.com
