“FASHION IS A FORM OF EXPRESSION, ONE OF THE MANY AVENUES THROUGH WHICH, AS AN ARTIST, I CAN COMMUNICATE AND TELL THE STORY I WANT TO TELL.”

“Fashion is a form of expression, one of the many avenues through which, as an artist, I can communicate and tell the story I want to tell,” offers Rosalía, the trailblazing Spanish singer and songwriter. “It’s powerful in that my energy can shift through fashion: I might have a bad day, but if I see a fashion piece that excites me, the day might change,” she explains. “Or one day I might feel like my energy is low, but if I can figure out an exciting style in the morning, then I might feel charged for the rest of the day.”

As an artist, Rosalía is deeply involved in the visual presentation of her work, ranging from music videos to stage performances to fashion, highlighting her multidisciplinary approach to art. As one of Dior’s new global ambassadors, she exemplifies the brand’s timeless elegance and brings her unique blend of cultural heritage and innovative artistry to the forefront.

Recalling her first meeting with Dior creative director of women’s haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories collections Maria Grazia Chiuri, Rosalía speaks of an immediate connection over a shared passion for creativity and detail. “I perfectly remember the day I met Maria Grazia for the first time. She welcomed me with a warm smile, and we immediately started talking about the accessories and the collection,” Rosalía shares. This relationship has flourished, grounded in mutual respect and a love for artistic innovation. “I have always been a huge fan of her music and her ability to combine her Spanish musical roots with a modern, contemporary spirit,” says Chiuri.

Rosalía’s journey as an artist has been equally dynamic and distinguished. Bursting onto the music scene with her innovative blend of traditional flamenco with urban rhythms, she quickly captured the attention of critics and audiences worldwide. Her breakthrough album, El Mal Querer, released in 2018, was a conceptual masterpiece inspired by a medieval text, showcasing her ability to reinterpret historical narratives through a modern lens. The album not only earned her multiple Latin Grammy Awards but also marked her as a global music sensation.

Rosalía’s role as a Dior ambassador feels like a natural extension of her artistic expression. “Being an ambassador for a house like Dior is an incredible honor; it’s a joy for me,” she says, reflecting on the weight of this role and the illustrious lineage of ambassadors before her. Rosalía’s involvement in high-profile campaigns, like that for the Lady Dior bag, highlights how accessories and fashion are integral to her personal and professional persona. “A very simple look can be elevated so easily just with accessories,” she notes, underscoring the transformative power of fashion.

“I think of the remarkable women who have preceded me and those who are currently Dior ambassadors, and I am in awe,” she says, noting the maison symbolizes a timeless institution—“una casa de toda la vida,” as she puts it, highlighting the enduring legacy and consistent innovation of the brand. “Dior is a house with a precious history that has endured over time, consistently perpetuating its style and the excellence of its savoir faire,” she says, expressing her admiration for the “strength and grace behind something that stands the test of time.”

As for her musical career, Rosalía continues to innovate. Her exploration of different musical styles and collaborations with artists across genres continues to keep her on the cutting edge of the industry. After the success of her singles like “Con Altura” and “Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi,” anticipation is high for her upcoming album, tentatively scheduled for release later this year. The artist has hinted at further blending of genres and perhaps even more introspective lyrics, promising another innovative chapter in her rapidly ascending career.

Regardless of the artistic medium, Rosalía aims to express herself authentically. “The most important thing is to always feel like I’m being true to myself and, in this case, to approach the world of Dior from who I am,” she says.

“THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO ALWAYS FEEL LIKE I’M BEING TRUE TO MYSELF.”
