You’re about to play in your 100th major in the Masters this year. How does that feel?
I have been so blessed to do what I love for a living and to meet so many incredible people along the way—on the course and off. It’s incredible to think I have reached 100 Majors. I would love to bring home another green jacket to celebrate.
You recently designed your first golf course at Terras da Comporta in Portugal and are the captain of Fireballs LIV, Austin’s first professional golf team. What else do your loyal fans know about you?
Designing the course was an incredible opportunity and a dream come true. We anticipate opening in late spring this year, and I am very excited to see how it builds a reputation in the world of golf. [But] I love all sports. I am a huge football (soccer) fan. I am also a foodie. Cooking is a hobby I enjoy, and my friendship with Chef José Andrés has allowed me to learn so much.
What philanthropic endeavors are you involved with locally?
Fore Kids ATX (forekidsatx.org) is a favorite and we are so humbled to have seen the event grow so quickly and sell out each year. And, of course, we hope to save our beloved Muny. I love living in Austin and feel so blessed to have been embraced by the community. [My wife] Angela and I love building our charity here and look forward to all that 2025 has to offer.
